Xiaomi has just launched the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, their new flagships. The Chinese brand’s renewed commitment to the high-end comes with interesting new features, both in technical and design matters, and goes for the jugular of the iPhone 15.
The first thing that stands out is the implementation of screens with a flatter finish, something that is mainly evident in the Xiaomi 14. The 14 Pro, meanwhile, has a more curved finish. And in both variants, the metal frame that we already saw in the Xiaomi 13 is present again. At the back, for its part, all eyes are once again on the large square module that houses the triple camera developed together with Leica.
As if it were not clear that Xiaomi wants to compete hand in hand with Apple’s latest generation mobile phones, the brand has chosen to go beyond the technical comparison. It is because of that The Xiaomi 14 Pro will also be available in a special edition with a titanium body.
This is what the new Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are like
A very important feature of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro is the incorporation of the new chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In fact, this week we saw Lu Weibing, president of the Xiaomi Group, giving a first look at the phones at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit.
Returning to the screen, the Xiaomi 14 line makes a very important leap compared to its predecessor. The standard model comes with a panel 6.36 inches C8 LTPO, with a resolution of 2670 x 1200 pixels, a density of 460 pixels per inch and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. Although perhaps the most impressive thing is its peak brightness of 3,000 nitsagainst the 1,900 nits of the Xiaomi 13.
In the case of the Xiaomi 14 Pro, meanwhile, the panel is made of 6.73 inches, also C8 LTPO. Its resolution is 3200 x 1440 pixels and its density is 522 PPI. Like the standard model, it offers an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits. This model debuts a glass coating developed by the Chinese brand called Longjing Glass. According to Xiaomi, it is stronger than Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Apple’s Ceramic Shield.
As had already been revealed in recent days, the new Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro incorporate a triple rear camera system developed together with Leica. The standard model has a 50-megapixel main sensor (OV50H) with an f/1.6 aperture; while the ultra wide angle and the telephoto lens are JN1 of 50 MP each. The Pro variant, meanwhile, is differentiated by the inclusion of what the company has called “1024 levels of variable aperture” in its main sensor, which ranges from f/1.42 to f/4.0.
The Xiaomi 14 battery is 4,610 mAh and supports 90-watt wired fast charging, as well as 50-watt wireless fast charging. The Pro model features a battery 4,880 mAhwith 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
