What Akram said about keeping Mahmudullah Riyad in the XI

The Bangladesh team is now in India to participate in the 13th edition of the ICC ODI World Cup. Experienced cricketer Mahmudullah Riyad is one of the members of this World Cup team of Bangladesh. Before the announcement of the World Cup team, there was a lot of discussion about him.

The veteran cricketer was out of the team for a long time due to fitness issues and lack of rhythm. Last got chance in ODI series at home against New Zealand. There he was named in the World Cup team with a mediocre performance.

Even if Riyad gets a chance in the World Cup team, there is no end to the discussion about him. Discussions are going on whether the experienced cricketer will get a chance in the Tigers’ starting XI in the World Cup. Many feel that Riyad can be played on a pace-supporting wicket. And instead of Riyad on the spin supporting wicket, extra spinners can be taken in the XI.

Akram Khan, the former captain of the national team, spoke on the issue of Mahmudullah. He thinks that keeping Riyad in the World Cup team is a logical decision of BCB. Akram also feels that there is no substitute for experience in a big event like the World Cup.

The former captain of the Tigers said, there was a lot of hesitation about Riyad. I have always said that the World Cup team needs experienced cricketers. Riyad should be taken if fit. Because, in such tournaments there is a need to share experience. Good decision of BCB to keep Riyad in the team. I see a lot of potential in the current team.
