We tested the Vivo V29 Lite 5G, the most important mobile of the brand in Spain

One of the latest arrivals in the telephony market is the Live V29 Lite 5G. And, without any exaggeration, it is one of the most important mobiles for the brand in the Spanish market. Because? Easy: like the Huawei Lite series or the Redmi for Xiaomi, this product seeks to be the main channel of sales – and expansion – for the brand.

In hypertextual we have had the opportunity to test it for a few days. And, certainly, it is a quite interesting mid-range mobile, since it offers satisfactory experiences at a very competitive price. Now: is this the mobile you should buy?

This is the Vivo V29 Lite

The Vivo V29 Lite 5G is not a small device, but it is quite thin. It measures 164.24mm high, 74.79mm wide and just 7.89mm thick. As for the weight, they are 177 grams.

As I said, what is most striking is its thinness. Especially when compared to other mobiles in this same price segment. A sensation that is accentuated thanks to the curved edges of its screen and the rear glass.

Among the most striking aspects of the Vivo V29 Lite 5G is its screen. It is a panel with AMOLED technology, a diagonal of 6.78 inches and FullHD + resolution of 2,400 x 1,080p. Yes indeed, It is capable of reaching a refresh rate of up to 120 Hzso the experience when moving between its menus and applications is exquisite.

The edges of its screen are curved, so it gives the feeling that it never ends. This undoubtedly attracts a percentage of the public and also, as I said, accentuates the impression of thinness. Added to this are some very thin frames, which are always more than welcome.

The fingerprint reader, for its part, will be found in the lower area of the screen. As it is an AMOLED screen, we can see how the fingerprint icon lights up when we have the unused mobile on the table, while the rest of the panel remains off. By touching it, it will unlock in tenths of a second. And as far as precision is concerned, during the testing time I didn’t experience any issues in this sense.

Live V29 Lite 5G

This Vivo V29 Lite 5G comes in two colors: black and gold. In our case, the test unit that we have received has been the second. And the first impression has been that of a fairly well finished mobilewith a shiny gold frame around the screen, and a plastic back of the same color with a pearly touch on top, which makes the colors vary subtly depending on the incidence of light.

The camera module, for its part, does not go unnoticed. The sensors are positioned inside a large, shiny rectangle of the same color, and within this, two huge, black circles where the lenses will be. It is what most attracts the attention of the rear in this Vivo V29 Lite 5G.

The set of cameras of the Vivo V29 Lite 5G: compliant, but without too much fanfare

On the front of the mobile we find a 16 MP camera with an aperture of f / 2.45. The selfies that you can capture with this Vivo V29 Lite 5G will not fascinate you, but they will do for your social networks. Also offers more than enough quality for video calls through applications such as WhatsApp or Google Meet.

For his part, the rear cameras have left me with a better taste in my mouth. It has three sensors: the first of 64 MP and with optical image stabilization; a second 2 MP depth sensor; and a 2 MP macro camera.

The last two, as in other competing mobiles, are quite dispensable. In the case of the macro camera, due to its low resolution. And in the case of the depth sensor, other techniques can simply be used to measure depths without having to incorporate a specific camera for it, as is the case. In addition, the results of the portrait mode, where said sensor intervenes, are nothing special, so said sensor does not provide a clear benefit. It would have been a better idea to mount a wide angle or a telephoto instead of these two auxiliary cameras.

The main camera, on the other hand, is up to the task. The key is in the processing carried out by the phone, which translates into well-balanced and detailed images, which can be further exploited in post-production. The brand has also taken the step of deactivating by default the beauty modes that are so criticized in the West for the unreal appearance they produce.

As far as video is concerned, it’s not the most impressive, but yes offers enough stabilization technology to capture scenes without everything looking like jelly.

More than enough performance and lifespan for all users

Live V29 Lite 5G

On the other hand, the daily performance of this Vivo V29 Lite 5G is more than enough for not too demanding users. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor and 8 GB of RAM, expandable through internal storage. As for the latter, the model we have tested has 128 GB, but there are also others with up to 256 GB and 12 GB of RAM.

Even if you are a regular player of titles like Call of Duty: Mobile, the mobile manages to come out quite well during the tests. In fact, I was able to run it at maximum quality at a number of frames per second that I did not expect. From time to time there are FPS drops, but nothing too dramatic or recurring.

But all this power is useless without a good battery. For this reason, the Vivo V29 Lite 5G comes with 5,000 mAh that will allow you to use it for a long time without worrying if there is a charger nearby. In case you were downloaded, you can refill your battery quickly thanks to its fast charge of up to 44 Wwith everything you need already included in the box.

Is the Vivo V29 Lite worth it?

With a base cost of 399 euros, the Vivo V29 Lite 5G is presented as an interesting mid-range option. It doesn’t boast too much about almost anything –beyond its screen or design–, but there’s nothing missing if you get one.

Of course: in front of him he has Xiaomi with his arsenal of devices and recurring offers; Realme with a catalog that is also competitive; and private phones like the Pixel 7a. That is to say: it is a fairly competitive segment in which, among other things, the commercial strategy will be key.
