Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and business continuity solutions, introduced the Vertiv™ Geist™ Rackmount Transfer Switch (RTS), a new line of transfer switches that provides redundant power for single-wire devices.

Currently available throughout Latin America, North America and Asia, the Geist Rack Transfer Switch enables reliable transfer to an alternate power source when the primary source fails or is unavailable. This space-saving device is ideal for use in distributed IT networks and edge locations.

The Vertiv Geist RTS immediately detects power loss and automatically transfers load to an alternate source in less than 4-8 milliseconds, allowing servers and other critical supported devices to continue operating during a planned or unplanned outage .

It’s available in upgradeable and enhanced base intelligence models, while outlet-level switching and monitoring models will launch later in 2022. Upgradable base models include the intelligence you need today, with the option to upgrade the technology as it evolves your needs. Intelligence-enhanced models offer a comprehensive view of energy consumption of critical IT equipment, whether in the rack or via remote access.

The RTS Geist is available in 1U and 2U rack mount designs, which allow users to easily mount rack distribution units (rPDUs) in the U space of any standard rack or cabinet. Select models feature C13/C-19 combo outlets, simplifying the selection and purchase process and offering flexibility for customer applications.

“The need for computing is increasing in Latin America and the world,” said Rodrigo López, manager of the integrated rack systems offer at Vertiv LATAM. “The ability to provide data center equipment with two power sources adds an additional level of availability and protection,” López added.

In addition to providing a redundant power supply, the RTS Vertiv™ Geist™ enables proactive monitoring of the IT environment, temperature, humidity, and airflow. Additionally, users have the ability to enhance device monitoring features through remote monitoring of IT power consumption. The Vertiv Geist RTS can support up to 24 outlets for higher density rack configurations.

The Vertiv Geist RTS is ideal for the banking, healthcare, financial services, education, energy, government, and transportation industries that operate micro data centers, distributed IT networks, or edge data centers.
