UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric made a statement on the subject at the daily press conference yesterday, following the news in the world media that the United Nations (UN) Secretary General and some high-level UN executives were eavesdropping on the talks by the US government. Spokesperson Dujarric stated that such actions by the United States are inconsistent with their responsibilities under the UN Charter.
Following the news that the speeches of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and some senior UN officials were eavesdropped by the US government, UN Spokesperson Dujarric answered a press member’s question on the subject at yesterday’s daily press conference. Spokesperson Dujarric used the following statements;
“We have now formally expressed our concern over recent reports that communications from the host country (USA), the Secretary-General and other senior UN officials are subject to US government surveillance and interference. We have made it clear that this is inconsistent with the obligations of the United States enumerated in the United States Convention on Privileges and Immunities.”
