Ukrainian President Zelensky Visits Germany

Having completed his Italian contacts, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski came to Berlin, the capital of Germany, and met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The two leaders, who came together today at the Bellevue Palace, the German presidential residence, had previously met in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, in October 2022. The following statements were included in the statement made by the German Presidency regarding the visit;

“In the first visit of the President of Ukraine to Berlin since the beginning of the Russian offensive against his country, the situation in Ukraine was discussed at the meeting. President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people will be presented with the Aachen 2023 International Charlemagne Prize in the afternoon.

Germany is one of Ukraine’s biggest supporters, providing military, economic and financial assistance in the face of Russia’s war of aggression. Germany is also making a huge contribution to helping refugees and promoting reconstruction.”
