UEFA postpones Villarreal-Maccabi Haifa due to the situation in Israel

The UEFA Executive Committee has agreed, given the war situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip, “after a thorough assessment of the current security situation” in Israeli territory, that no European match be played there until further notice, just as the Villarreal-Maccabi Haifa Europa League match has been postponed to Wednesday, December 6.

The continental body, as reported this Thursday in a statement, has requested the Israeli Football Association and its clubs Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv that propose alternative venues and stadiums outside the country’s territory to play their home matches while said decision is in force.

UEFA has also announced that the Europa League match Villarreal-Maccabi Haifa, scheduled for Thursday the 26th at La Cerámica, is postponed to Wednesday, December 6, and the Maccabi Tel Aviv-Zorya Luhansk, of the Conference League, to Saturday, November 25.

Refering to Youth Champions League, Maccabi Haifa has announced its withdrawal, so Sparta Prague is qualified for the second round.
