Two schools from Malaga will compete in the 2023 Mini-Olympics in Seville

Next Tuesday May 2 begins in Seville the mini olympics 2023, where 12 Andalusian schools will compete in five Olympic disciplines. Two schools from Malaga have qualified to participate in this event, the CEIP Gutiérrez Matafrom the capital of Malaga, and the CEIP Professor Tierno Galvánfrom Rincon de la Victoria.

These two schools from Malaga have qualified for this final phase of the Olympics at School Programorganized by the Fundación Andalucía Olímpica, after presenting a report on the execution of the program developed in the so-called Olympic Week, divided into five sessions with activities related to the Ancient Olympic Games, the Modern Olympics, team sports and Ceremonies of inauguration and closing of the same, as well as the preparation of a mural on the route of the Olympic torch through Andalusia in 1992 and the preparation of three Olympic posters of a hypothetical Olympics in Andalusia.

The objective of this program is to disseminate the values ​​of sport and the Olympic ideals, and it represents a unique opportunity for these schoolchildren to put the values ​​of this program into practice.

The twelve classified centers will be housed in the Sportsmen’s Residence of La Cartuja, being on this occasion the chosen sports the rowing, taekwondo, wrestling, goalball and mini tennis.

On Tuesday, May 2, the opening ceremony will be held at CEAR La Cartuja. On Wednesday the 3rd, the rowing and goalball tests will take place. On Thursday the 4th it is the turn of wrestling and taekwondo in La Rinconada and on Friday the Mini-Olympics closes with mini-tennis and the closing ceremony.

According to Jose Maria Blazquezteacher of the CEIP Professor Tierno Galván, «This Mini-Olympics represents the recognition of the great work carried out by the entire Educational Community and it is a prize for our students”.
