Twitter will manually review all verification requests and debuts two new gold and gray icons

Elon Musk seems to have found the solution to the failure of verification on Twitter Blue, after hundreds of users took advantage of the possibility of receiving the famous check blue for $8 a month to impersonate celebrities. The now owner of the social network has confirmed in a tweet that the system to get the badge It will be available again next Friday, December 2. It will also come with important changes that the tycoon himself has described as “painful, but necessary.”

One of the main novelties of the new verification system is the possibility of distinguish verified people, brands and government representatives, through different colors in the badge that is placed next to his name. Elon Musk, in particular, has stated in a tweet that those human persons, as well as celebrities or celebrities, will have the blue color verification. The brands, on the other hand, will receive a golden seal. Finally, those accounts related to the government; that is, that of presidents, politicians or accounts that represent a state or government administration—, will have the check in gray.

Elon Musk has also confirmed that Twitter will manually review all verification requests. Therefore, it is very likely that people who want to get the blue badge on the social network by paying $8 a month, will have to provide information that allows Twitter to verify their identity.

Celebrities and Twitter Blue users will have the same badge

Twitter Blue, verification

Of the innovations in the verification system, it is surprising that the platform do not distinguish between users and celebrities. That is, a famous person will have the same check blue than someone paying $8 a month for Twitter Blue. Musk, however, claims that this is because—at least for him—”the line on what constitutes ‘remarkable’ is too subjective.” He further details that if these famous people belong to an organization, may have “a small secondary logo” to show that it is so. As long as, yes, that organization verifies it.

It is unknown, on the other hand, if Twitter will eliminate the possibility of checking if a user has paid to have the blue badge on Twitter. Or, if it is verified by the platform itself due to its notoriety. In any case, Musk has claimed that will offer a “longer explanation” about the new verification system, starting next week.
