Nick Fuentes, famous far-right commentator, has returned to Twitter. This time, under the blessing of Elon Muskwho has been in charge of restoring the account of the streamer. Musk has focused his short reign on Twitter on reviving controversial old personalities or introducing features without much outlet. The return of Nick Fuentes is just another chapter in his story.
The platform decided to suspend Nick Fuentes’ account in July 2021, after comments that were considered violent by Twitter guidelines. According to the social network, Fuentes touched on sensitive issues with a lot of violence. Among these, issues concerning the LGBTQ+ community, ethnic minorities, women’s rights, COVID-19 and more.
Sources, for their part, has been described by the Jewish organization Anti-Defamation League as a white supremacist. Of course, the title does not come without foundation. The commentator is known for praising the actions of Adolf Hitler, as well as being a Holocaust denier.
In addition, on repeated occasions, Fuentes has publicly called for the submission of the Jewish people, and sticking to American Christian nationalism.

In the past, Musk offered former President Donald Trump the chance to return to the social network, although he ended up refusing. Shortly after, we saw the reactivation of Kanye West’s account, only to be later blocked for praising Adolf Hitler during a Twitter live and posting shirtless photos of Musk himself.
Elon Musk promised that when he became head of Twitter, he would work to restore “free speech” on the platform. These statements have been harshly criticizedand it is that since then, the executive has done nothing more than suspend comedians and reactivate accounts of people with questionable speeches.
But the criticism of Musk is not only in the reactivation of accounts of far-right characters. Some time ago we saw the mass suspension of journalists in charge of covering news on Twitter and about Musk himself, as well as accounts related to left-wing personalities on the platform.
What will become of the future of Twitter with Elon Musk at the helm? It is something we cannot know. However, the arrival in droves of far-right people with a verification badge next to his name is never a good thing. After all, it is still one extreme of political ideas in a society, and it can be very dangerous to let them settle and grow out of control.
