The upward trend in the exchange rate has been continuing since the beginning of the week. The dollar has risen more than 2 liras since Monday. After the increase in the exchange rate, there was a triple hike in fuel oil. As of midnight tonight, the price of gasoline increased by 2 liras and 70 kurus, diesel increased by 1 lira by 37 kurus, and auto gas increased by 67 kurus.
HOW MUCH WAS THE FUEL PRICES?
- After the hike, the price of gasoline increased from 23 liras to 99 cents in Istanbul, 24 liras to 36 cents in Ankara, and 24 liras to 38 cents in Izmir.
- The price of diesel oil increased from 22 liras to 16 cents in Istanbul, 22 liras to 56 cents in Ankara, and 22 liras to 67 cents in Izmir.
- The price of auto gas increased from 10 liras to 74 cents in Istanbul, 10 liras to 67 cents in Ankara, and 10 liras to 52 cents in Izmir.
QUEUE FORMED AT STATIONS
The increase in fuel prices caused queues to form at many gas stations. Citizens who did not want to be affected by the hike flocked to the stations before midnight.
HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?
Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average of processed product prices in the Mediterranean market, including Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may vary slightly depending on companies and cities due to competition and freedom.
EPGIS HAS DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES
After EMRA filed a criminal complaint against EPGIS, the only union that announced the change in prices, the union announced that it would not share the price changes in fuel with the citizens until the litigation process was concluded.
