The pandemic showed us that the use of cell phones can be extended if the companies want it. The operating systems can continue to be updated so that the equipment maintains its functionality under the minimum standards. nokia has taken this feature into account and

Smartphones have practically become disposable products. Many companies guarantee only two years of updates with the intention that their users acquire the new equipment.

So, the number of cell phones that are thrown away cause a carbon footprint that has a negative impact on the environment. Pollution by electronic materials is a problem that can no longer be ignored.

This is how this initiative was born from the company that owns the rights to Nokia, called HMD Global. They launch two cell phones and a tablet on the market with the promise that their systems will be updated for much longer than conventional Androids.

Users will have the power to change them if they wish, but it will not be out of necessity, which is what happens today.

Old Nokia can be recycled

Not only will operating systems stay up-to-date longer, but when they’re scrapped, the company can take them for refurbishment and give them away to charity. According to what is published by colleagues from computer todaythis is part of a plan they call Circular.

Another positive element is that through this plan, users will be able to get cell phones by paying monthly installments of around 15 dollars. For now it will be launched in Europe and it is not known if this initiative will reach our continent.

The cell phones and the tablet that Nokia will launch have already been mentioned above. One is the Nokia X30 5G, which comes with the Qualcomm processor with the Snapdragon 695 5G and with the Android 12 operating system. It comes in two versions: the one with 6GB of RAM and 128 internal storage or the one with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory.

There is also the Nokia G60 5G, a mid-range that promises three years of updates. It appears with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor.

Then there is the Nokia T21 tablet with a 10.4-inch screen with 2K resolution, 4G connectivity and an 8,200 mAh battery.
