The schedule and venue of the next ODI World Cup will be announced during the final of the second World Test Championship, said the secretary of the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah. It is somewhat unusual that the schedule of the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November has not yet been announced. But solving the Pakistan issue is the main reason for the delay.
The BCCI is working on a plan to play Asia Cup host Pakistan at a neutral venue in September. If India does not agree to play the Asia Cup, Pakistan has threatened to boycott the ODI World Cup held on the soil of one of the most powerful countries in cricket.
India and Australia will meet in the Test Championship final at The Oval from June 7 to 11. The World Cup schedule will be announced during that final.
In a statement ahead of the Indian Premier League final in Ahmedabad, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah said, ‘The venue and schedule of the ICC Cricket ODI World Cup will be announced at a press conference during the World Test Championship final.’
