The VW ID. 2all is official and promises good autonomy at a competitive price, to be the electric car “for everyone”

The wait is over and the Volkswagen ID.2 all—stylized as the ID. 2all—it’s official. at your event #VWforthepeople, the German automaker revealed the concept of the new car that will be added to its 100% electric catalog in the coming years, and that it intends to be its great bet to reach a mass audience. Not only through a new design language, but also with a proposal that promises good autonomy at a competitive price.

The Volkswagen ID.2 all wants to be The electric car “for everyone” and, at least on paper, he appears to have the scrolls to pull it off. The vehicle will be the first front-wheel drive to be developed on the MEB platform entrance, and will include an engine capable of generating 166 kW, equivalent to 226 horsepower. Thus, it will reach a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds.

Unfortunately, VW hasn’t provided too in-depth technical details regarding the car. Although he did mention that he will have a range of up to 450 kilometers under the WLTP cycle.

Regarding its batteries, it has been confirmed that they can be charged at speeds of up to 125 kW, and not 200 kW as previously speculated. It would still be more than enough to recover the charge at a good speed. According to Volkswagen, the ID.2 all can be recharged from 10 to 80% in just 20 minutes.

The Volkswagen ID.2 all, a hatchback electric with airs of Polo

In terms of design, the Volkswagen ID.2 all is a compact with a well-identified aesthetic, but it does not stray too far from what we have seen in other models of the brand. In fact, at first glance it looks like a Polo, plain and simple. Not for nothing did the automaker itself confirm prior to the event that the vehicle would be located between two iconic models of the brand: the Polo itself and the Golf.

A wise decision, considering that at first it was intended to give it a similar appearance to that of the controversial ID.Life concept which was known in 2021 and which was the subject of great criticism. As for its exterior dimensions, the Volkswagen ID.2 will all be closer to the Polo, with a length just over 4 meters. But the company ensures that its interior size will be more similar to that of the Golf.

Volkswagen ensures that the ID.2 all will arrive in 2025 —possibly at the end of the year—, with a price less than 25,000 euros.
