The Costa Lago de Torremolinos beach will finally host the Torremolinos Wingfoil dispute on June 10 and 11 Challenger GWA QS 2023 by Diputación Provincial de Málaga, a sporting event that has established itself on the international calendar after the event held last year.
After analyzing wind forecasts For this coming weekend June 3 and 4, the date originally scheduled, the organization of the event has chosen to set this new date for the Costa Lago beach to host the World Championship of the specialty. The wind maps indicate excellent conditions for the marked days and a whole show is expected for the appointment.
The appointment for the first time will grant six direct places for the Wingfoil World Championship, while the Global Wingsports Association (GWA) has also chosen it as the venue for the Masters World Championship. It is thus a first level event that will turn the town into the epicenter of world wingfoil.
The organization, which is run by Álex Gámez, manager of The Gallery Surf Shop (www.thegallerysurfshop.com), has the support of the Provincial Council of Málaga, the Junta de Andalucía, the Torremolinos City Council and the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol.
The Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023 by Diputación Provincial de Málaga will be the first test that gives a direct entry to the World Championship organized by the GWA. Thus, the first three classified in the male and female categories will get the ticket for the World Cup. This is going to cause the best specialists on the international scene to make a pilgrimage to the Costa del Sol to get hold of this attractive booty. The rest of the participants will obtain points for the GWA Qualifying Series, which is the qualifying circuit prior to the main one.
Another important innovation is that the GWA has chosen the Torremolinos Wingfoil to celebrate the World Masters. Wingfoil is a specialty that can be practiced with no age limit and this is one of the keys to its rapid growth. This World Cup will allow a large number of fans from all over Europe and the rest of the world to travel to Torremolinos, which also represents a great promotional opportunity for the area.
The organization has also wanted local fans to have their space among the professionals and a Fun Race Amateur championship will be held for them to test their level during the “weekend”.
The Torremolinos Wingfoil prepares a great setup in the Costa Lago area that will go beyond the competition. During all the days that the event lasts, visitors will find a great setting in a limited area. Different brands related to the sector will participate in the ‘Weekend Wingfoil Expo’ in which they will exhibit their products so that they can be tested by those who are interested in getting started in this sport. To complete this wide recreational and competition offer, the organization will install a ‘wave’ ramp for practicing surfskate in which classes will be taught free of charge.
