The Spanish pilot Jorge Martin (Ducati) won this Saturday the Sprint race of the MotoGP category at the Qatar Grand Prixnineteenth and penultimate round of the Motorcycle World Championship, putting pressure on the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in his close fight for the title.
Although the Italian Luca Marini (Ducati) also started from pole position, Martín went into ‘Martinator’ mode as soon as he started on the Losail circuit. The one in San Sebastián de los Reyes was placed shoulder to shoulder together with ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, almost like a declaration of intentions.
In front, Valentino Rossi’s brother took advantage of the most advanced position on the grid to push forward, but his compatriot Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati) followed him attentive to the slipstream. Behind both of them, on the fifth lap of the 11 scheduled, Martín overtook Bagnaia and began the chase.
Taking advantage of his aggressiveness, the Sansebastian native then overtook Marini and Di Giannantonio himself, who for his part had tasted the lead momentarily. Meanwhile, ‘Pecco’ lost pace and even dropped to fifth placefrom which he did not move until the end.
In between, Álex Márquez (Ducati) slipped in, taking the checkered flag and staying close to the podium. With ‘Martinator’ at the top, with Di Giannantonio second and Marini third, and having the youngest of the Márquezs there in the ‘ointment’, Bagnaia saw his advantage over Martín reduced to just seven points at the top of a World Cup. that sparks.
