The object that fell through the roof of the house was confirmed to be a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite.

It was announced that the object of about 1 kilo, which fell inside the roof of a house in the USA on May 9, is a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite.

Scientists from the University of New Jersey announced that the stone that fell into the house by piercing the roof of a house in New Jersey on May 9 is a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite. “Based on visual inspection, density measurements, scanning electron microscope images, and review and information from retired meteorite expert Jerry Delaney, we are delighted to confirm that the object is a chondrite meteorite,” said Nate Magee, professor of physics, making a statement on May 11.

Stating that it is an extremely rare situation to closely examine a meteorite falling from space, Prof. “We are excited to be able to confirm that the object is a true chondrite meteorite in excellent condition, and one of the very few similar chondrite fallouts known to science to be witnessed,” said Magee.
