The new Motorola foldables have a confirmed presentation date

The presentation of the next folding mobile phones Motorola is getting closer every day. In the last hours, the brand confirmed the presentation date of new devices with a short video posted on Twitter.

The clip in question lasts just 5 seconds, but the time is more than enough to see the silhouette of two folding. The ad includes the phrase Flip the Script, which can be translated as “turn the script around” and is commonly used to imply that the pre-established roles are intended to be reversed in a given situation. Also, it’s a pun, considering that clamshell phones are known in English as flip phones.

It is clear that Motorola wants to show that its foldables have what it takes to become the main players in the market, and that they are no longer in the shadow of other brands. Of course, we will have to wait for the expected smartphones to be revealed to find out if this is finally the case. When will the presentation be? On 1st June.

If the rumors that have been circulating for several weeks are true, Motorola will take the stage with two folding models. Both devices would share a form factor, but would target two different segments. On the one hand, a high-performance one is expected to be launched under the name of Razr 40 Ultra. While we would also see a cheaper version in action, which was originally speculated that it could be launched as the Razr Lite, although now everything indicates that it would be Razr 40 to dry.

Interestingly, the second could be the more interesting of the two models. Not because the high-end version is bad, but because Motorola could hold the key to ushering in the era of cheap foldables.

The presentation date of the new Motorola foldables is not surprising. Since the CEO of Lenovo confirmed at MWC 2023 that there would be news on the matter soon, there has been speculation about a launch in the middle of the year. Which is now official.

In terms of specifications, the data that have leaked are directly linked to the Razr 40 Ultra; that is, the high-end model. As recently learned, it would incorporate a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, RAM up to 12 GB and storage up to 512 GB. The main screen would be 6.7 inches (2640 x 1080), while the upper half of the outer cover would incorporate a 3.5-inch panel (1056 x 1066).

As for cameras, Motorola would equip the largest of its foldables with a 12-megapixel main sensor and a 13-megapixel wide angle. the camera for selfiesMeanwhile, it would be 32 megapixels. Other features included would be support for NFC and the ultra-wideband (UWB) protocol. It is also speculated that it could come in multiple variants, even dual-SIM and eSIM; although its availability could be limited depending on the region.

About the cheapest Razr 40, little or nothing is known. Logically, the rumors point to a table of technical specifications that would be one step below the most powerful model. However, no specific technical data has been mentioned. What has been unofficially commented is that the external screen would be much smaller and limited in functions than that of the Razr 40 Ultra. Of course we will have to wait until June 1 for Motorola to reveal the secrets of its new generation of foldables.
