It’s official. Just as there had been a clamor on social networks since his death on October 19, the Unicaja Banking Foundationat the club’s proposal, has agreed to name the Los Guindos Complex Sports Pavilion ‘José María Martín Urbano’ for the commendable work carried out by the technician in the lower categories of the typesetter group throughout his career.
This appointment has taken place after the clamor was absolute within the compositor fans. On the part of the club, from that fateful moment, they were clear that Martín Urbano deserved recognition at the height of what his figure had meant for Malaga basketball and so it has taken place, as has been known in the last few hours. The man from Malaga was the coach of Caja de Ronda and worked for the development of local basketball since its inception.
He burned many of the stages in the club of his life since its very creation. He was coach of that Caja de Ronda during 68 games and later he became part of the lower categories to continue developing the career of many players. In some way or another, he was always linked to the club to the point that this summer he entered the +60 team in the FIMBA Maxibasket with which he was able to reconnect with the work on the benches.
His death was a heavy blow to the club. The fans dedicated a great tribute to him in the match against Betis that lasted longer than initially stipulated and now, one of the compositor legends who have left in this fateful 2022, already has a posthumous recognition.
