The first women’s road cycling team in Andalusia will wear the Provincial Council brand

The Team Prolongo Al-Andalus Womanthe first women’s road cycling team in Andalusia, will wear the brand of the Provincial Council of Malaga.

This was announced by the president of the provincial entity, Francisco Saladotogether with the Councilor for Sports of Cártama, Rosa María González, and the team director and president of the Al-Andalus Cycling Club, José Miguel Peña, during the presentation of the new team shirt.

Team Prolongo Al-Andalus Woman, which debuted last year, It is made up of malagueñas, but also of athletes from other Andalusian provinces and from other countries who have chosen the province of Malaga as their residence. The malagueñas are Rocío Rojas from Marbella and Marta López, from Torre del Mar.

“They perfectly represent the current dynamic, plural and open society in Malaga, with more than 300,000 foreign residents and an increasing number of Spaniards from other provinces and communities living among us”explained the president.

The Prolongo Al-Andalus Woman team will kick off the season this weekend in the prestigious Women Cycling Pro Costa de Almería event together with the best professional teams on the world cycling scene. It will also be, for the second year, in the Women’s Vuelta Andalucía that begins on June 4, and before that, in February, it will participate in the Women’s Spanish Road Cup with eight tests in different provinces of the country.

“These are just some of the championships in which the team will compete, and they will do so wearing the brand of the Provincial Council on their shirt, which supports them through the Málaga Compite program.” explained the president, who recalled that through this program, the Provincial Council has allocated 300,000 euros (20% more than last season) to 35 Malaga clubs that play in the highest categories of more than twenty sports disciplines to help them improve their sports resources and results.
