The CPI in the United Kingdom falls more than one point in July, to 6.8%, the lowest since February 2022

The year-on-year inflation rate in the United Kingdom stood at 6.8% last Julycompared to the rise in prices of 7.9% in the month of June, which represents the lowest level of inflation since February 2022, as reported on Wednesday by the British National Statistics Office (ONS, for its acronym in English) .

In the seventh month of 2023, the year-on-year rise in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages in the United Kingdom it was 14.8%, compared to 17.3% the previous month.

The Underlying inflationwhich excludes the volatility of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, remained at 6.9% in July, contrary to the decline expected by analysts.

In monthly terms, prices registered a decrease of 0.4% in the seventh month of the year, compared to the increase of 0.6% experienced in the same month of 2022.
