Team India ODI World Cup: Victory over victory… ODI series decided India’s playing-11 in the World Cup!

The Indian team has to play the ODI World Cup in October-November this year. This tournament is to be played in India only and the Indian team, which has been waiting for the ICC trophy for the last 10 years, is eyeing this World Cup. The Indian team is already busy in preparations and its effect has also started showing in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The way the performance of the Indian team has been so far and the way the players have shown the game, there are indications that with which squad the Indian team can go ahead in the ODI World Cup.

After the defeat in the T20 World Cup 2022, there was a stir in the BCCI and since then the preparations for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 started. It was then decided that a pool of 20 players is being prepared for the World Cup, who are strong contenders to play the World Cup and along with them can be fielded in all the series, so that every player is prepared.

This is the reason why senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, who often take a break in the ODI series, are also now appearing in regular ODIs and the entire focus of the team has shifted to the ODI format. Looking at the 6 ODIs played so far in the year 2023 and looking at other players, the picture of Team India’s playing-11 or 15 players squad is clear.

Will he handle the responsibility in the batting unit?
The way Shubman Gill has performed and the confidence with which he is seen playing his innings in ODIs, it is clear that he is going to open with Rohit Sharma in the ODI World Cup. Virat Kohli’s playing at number-3 is fixed, while Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav can confirm their place at number four and five.

Ishaan Kishan can also get a chance here in place of Suryakumar Yadav, who is doing better in ODIs. At the same time, KL Rahul’s number comes as a wicketkeeper. However, only one of Surya-Ishaan and KL Rahul can get a place in the playing-11.

Who has a chance in bowling and all-rounder?
If we talk about bowling and all-rounder, then Hardik Pandya is sure to play, who is now continuously putting overs and now he has become the vice-captain of the ODI team. Apart from these, the trio of Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah (still injured, may be fit till the World Cup) can be relied upon for fast bowling. Team India also has options like Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Akshar Patel in the spin department.

This could be India’s possible playing-11:
Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav

These players will also get a chance: Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant (if fit), Washington Sundar
