The “sprint” would be the logical epilogue of the eleventh stage of the Tour de France, 179.8 kilometers between Clermont-Ferrand and Moulins, which avoid mountainous difficulties as much as possible to favor a grouped finish. After the hard day of Puy de Dôme, the rest day and the “leg breaker” of Issoire, the sprinters of the peloton will have to sharpen their sabers to settle one of the few victories what lies ahead. The route marks out some of the Auvergne volcanoes, but looks at them from below and sets a direct course for a small town of 20,000 inhabitants that has never received the Tour before.
Before, they will pass through Montluçon, birthplace of the former double world champion Julien Alaphilppe, before setting course for the 900 meter straight where the champion of the day will be judged.
