Sri Lanka lost to Indian pace, 4 wickets for 3 runs

Mohammad Siraj took two wickets in the first over

In their seventh match in the current World Cup, Sri Lanka are in awe of India’s pacers as they chase a daunting target of 358 runs. Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara’s successors lost four wickets for just three runs. Two of the three runs came in extra runs. In other words, out of four batters, three could not open the account of runs.

Chasing the target, the Lankans lost their wicket on the first ball of the over. Pathum Nisanka returns after being LBW by Bumrah.

Dimuth Karunaratne went back to Pathum Nisanka before opening his account of runs. He fell victim to LBW by Mohammad Siraj.

Sadira Samarawickramao returned with zero runs on the way of these two openers. Mohammad Siraj returned Dimuth Karunaratne and Sadira Samarawickrama in one over.

He returned by handing a catch to Shreyas Aiyas at third slip off Mohammad Siraj. On his departure, Sri Lanka lost 3 wickets for 2 runs.

Adding to Sri Lanka’s danger, Kushal Mendis returned to become Mohammad Siraj’s third victim with just 1 run from 10 balls. He went back after being bowled by Mohammad Siraj.

Earlier, Sri Lanka lost the reverse toss and went into bat, relying on the monster innings of Virat, Shubman and Shreyas Iyer.
