South Africa lost four wickets for 44 runs

In their second World Cup match, South Africa lost their first wicket for just 36 runs after going into bat against a target of 246 runs given by the Netherlands. After that, the team lost three more wickets to add eight more. At the end of 10 overs and two balls, South Africa scored 44 runs for 4 wickets. Proteas will get a chance to bat 43 overs today.

Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma opened for the Proteas today. But Quinton de Kock, the centurion of the previous match, returned to the court with only 36 runs.

Roelof van der Merwe returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs off 31 balls. On his departure, the Proteas’ opening pair broke for 36 runs. Then Bavuma was dismissed for 39 runs. He scored 16 off 31 balls before being bowled by Roelof van der Merwe. Aiden Markram, who scored a half century in the previous match, returned to the home team with 42 runs. He scored 1 run before being bowled by Paul van Meekeren. After his departure Rasi van der Dusen returned to become Roelof van der Merwe’s second victim. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs off 7 balls. On his departure, the Proteas lost 4 wickets for 44 runs.

Earlier, Netherlands lost the toss and went into bat against South Africa. The Dutch were able to score 245 runs after losing 8 wickets in the scheduled 43 overs. Now the Proteas are batting with a target of 246 runs to win.
