Telegram offers its users the ability to delete their account if it has not been used in a certain amount of time. This allows the person to protect their privacy.
The account self-destruct function is defined by the app as follows: “If you are not online at least once during this period, your account will be deleted along with all your messages and contacts.”
This messaging network offers as idle time limits one month, three months, six months and one year. Hence it is called the Dead Man’s Switch, as a macabre joke from Gearrice.
The steps to activate the function dead man switch are the following:
- Enter in Settings – Privacy and security.
- In Delete my account, If I’m out… function will appear Account self-destruction.
- There you must choose the span of time no use of Telegram to determine account closure.
