Sharfuddaula is the first Bangladeshi umpire in the World Cup

Sharfuddaula of Bangladesh has got the opportunity to umpire the ODI World Cup to be held in India next October. And through this, he got the opportunity to umpire on the World Cup stage as the first Bangladeshi umpire.

Cricket’s highest governing body ICC has announced the 16-member umpire panel ahead of the World Cup. However, this 16-man list has been released only for the league matches. Sharfuddaula got a place in that list. Before this, no other Bangladeshi umpire had the opportunity.

Before this, former left-arm spinner Enamul Haque was named as umpire in the 2011 World Cup. But he could not perform his duties on the field or as a TV umpire. He was a reserve umpire. But Sharafuddaula will get that opportunity.
