
Bangladesh will face host India tomorrow in their fourth match in the current World Cup. However, there is no doubt whether the world’s best all-rounder will be able to play against India.
There have been words of hope from team directors, though. Shakib was even seen in practice. However, on Wednesday, Shakib was again taken to the hospital for a scan.
As a result, Shakib may not join the optional practice of the Tigers before taking the field against Rohit Sharma.
Earlier, Khaled Mahmud Sujan spoke on Shakib’s injury issue. He said, ‘In the last match, it hurt to take runs. Shakib wants to play. But that depends on his fitness, whether he is 100% fit or not.’
He also said, ‘There are still six World Cup matches left. We don’t want Shakib to get knocked out after just one match. Doctors, physios are also here. Shakib will also understand his matter. We don’t want Shakib to be in danger for long playing against India. Although the physio, doctors will definitely play if allowed. And if we have to play without Shakib then we will do that.’
Note that Shakib got injured while batting in the match against New Zealand. Although later batting and completed his quota of 10 overs. He had to rush to the hospital without finishing the match. That is why he was not on the field at the end of the match. Later, it was informed by BCB that he had a muscle tear. Before the India match, the whole of Bangladesh looked at Shakib.
