The Superintendence of Banks (SB) received the certification of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System from the Ministry of Labor, for its compliance in the application of the Regulation 522-06 and the provision of adequate spaces to guarantee the Occupational Health & Safety.
The event took place at the SB headquarters and was headed by the Superintendent of Banks, Alejandro Fernández W., and the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel de Camps.
“This is an important achievement that encourages us to continue working on our institutional strengthening, an organizational strategic axis that in turn has a positive impact on the Dominican financial system,” said Fernández W. upon receiving the badge.
The delivery of the parchment formalizes the culmination of the technical evaluation process carried out by the General Directorate of Industrial Hygiene and Safety (DGHSI) of the Ministry, in accordance with regulation 522-06 on Safety and Health at Work.
The SB has carried out a comprehensive plan that has included actions such as the design and implementation of the occupational health and safety program manual, which contemplates the formation of the mixed occupational health and safety committee; the creation of the emergency plan, the formation and training of emergency brigades and the signaling of evacuation routes. Also the installation of fire-fighting systems in critical areas, the creation of emergency stations, the preparation of a response plan for hurricanes, among other initiatives.
During the delivery of the certification, the director of the DGHSI, Guillermo Villamán, as well as the representatives of the SB Juan Francisco Mendoza, manager; Nicole Brugal, Director of Operations; and Jorge Matos, in charge of Occupational Risk Prevention and Environmental Management.
Other certifications
In its efforts to achieve a complete internal transformation, the Superintendency received the ISO 9001:2015 quality certification last year, which endorses the management systems corresponding to the processes of the Registration and Authorizations Department and the Office of Services and User Protection (ProUsuario), two departments that offer services to supervised entities and users, respectively.
Similarly, the institution reached last year the Certification of the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (PAMC), which guarantees that its internal audit procedures comply with the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Institute of Internal Auditors of the Dominican Republic, becoming the third institution in the country to achieve this accreditation.
Likewise, the SB received the Bronze category from the certifier 3Rs Sustainability, thanks to its commitment to reducing its environmental impact; and she is endorsed with the Great Place to Work badge for her internal policies for the individual and collective well-being of her staff.
