The inevitable moment arrives when we compare face to face two of the most disturbing foldables of recent years. In a corner we have the brutal Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and on the other side of the ring is the new, disturbing and attractive Google Pixel Fold.
A few weeks ago the editorial team of FayerWayer was lucky enough to travel directly to South Korea to see first-hand the new Asian folding.
We go to this new generation where the manufacturer seems to have achieved the impossible by innovating a line of flexible smartphones that already looked sufficiently complete. There didn’t seem to be anything to improve them.
While Google took everyone by surprise with its foray into this market, it seems to be shifting from niche to mainstream.
In its most simplistic description, anyone would think that both models are broadly identical, but it is time to fully compare them:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 vs. Google Pixel Fold
The most direct and concise way to compare both models is starting from what is essential and as visual as possible. Through a comparative table where we can see the general qualities of your hardware.
In general we can see that there are some similar elements in terms of weight, connectors, RAM memory, storage ranges and type of glass on the display. But the difference is hidden in the fine details:

It turns out that Google’s smartphone has a more usable exterior screen and highlights this detail at a glance. At the same time it is thinner, although it weighs a little more. A few tens of grams.
While the Samsung Galaxy has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is technically newer and faster. Although both models have 12 GB of RAM and start from 256 GB in their storage capacity

Google’s smartphone for its part has a larger battery, although that does not translate into longer autonomy time.
Even the Samsung Galaxy has slightly faster charging speeds, which may make a bigger difference.
In the end, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 would be a more attractive option. For being faster, having more software options, multitasking capabilities and a more powerful camera.
That’s not to mention that the Google Pixel Fold is .
