Unlike samsungWith a somewhat disappointing showing at Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023), some potential competitors showed off all their guns for this year. One of them is Honor.
As he recalls a report published on the website of Sam Mobile, the little participation of the South Korean company makes sense. He had previously introduced the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Book 3 laptops at Unpacked on February 1.
Meanwhile, at MWC 2023, we saw how Samsung’s rivals had more exciting announcements to make in the global smartphone market by the end of the year, as Honora state-owned cell phone brand under the control of the Shenzhen municipal government.
Honor has a new goal of joining the global smartphone market and competing with the biggest brands out there. At MWC 2023, CEO Zhao Ming revealed that the company is willing to “improve battery life, communication, photography, display and AI to win the competition with the strongest opponents in many aspects such as globalization”.
Honor and its competitors
Honor’s opponents vying for globalization include Huawei and Apple, as mentioned by Ming. The CEO didn’t mention Samsung, but if the company wants to join the global market, Samsung will be much harder to ignore than Huawei.
The Shenzhen-based company is likely aware of the Korean tech giant’s dominance in the global Android space, especially since the global launch of Honor Magic Vs at MWC 2023. The Magic Vs foldable is the first non-Samsung book-like version and appears to be targeting the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Honor also announced that it wants to launch the standard Magic 5 series of smartphones globally, which consists of the Honor Magic 5 and Magic 5 Pro. They will go on sale in Q2 2023 for $899 and $1,199, respectively.
