Rohit Sharma Team India Captain: After leaving the captaincy of Virat Kohli, till the end of the year 2021, the command of Team India was handed over to Rohit Sharma. Since then Rohit is handling the captaincy of the team. Rohit had T20 World Cup 2022 and ODI World Cup 2023 apart from bilateral series. But under the captaincy of Rohit, the performance of the Indian team has not been good so far.
Especially in the multi-team tournament, the performance of Team India has not been commendable. In the T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian team was badly defeated in the semi-finals. Whereas in the Asia Cup just before this, it did not even reach the finals.
Hardik can be the captain after Rohit
But now the Indian team has to play the ODI World Cup in its own home this year as well. By this big tournament, Rohit will be 36 years old and fans are speculating that Rohit Sharma may resign from the captaincy after this World Cup. In that situation, the BCCI will have to appoint a new captain immediately, for which the board has already started preparations.
The picture of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is clearly visible in the BCCI’s mind as the next captain of the Indian team. Hardik Pandya is also handling the captaincy of the Indian T20 team at this time. In such a situation, it is not a big deal that he should also be handed over the command of the ODI team.

What did the BCCI official say?
In this matter, a senior BCCI official told News18, ‘It is clear at this time that only Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the World Cup. But we should also have a plan for the future. Can’t wait for some things to happen suddenly and then we react. If Rohit suddenly decides to leave ODI format or captaincy after World Cup 2023. Then we should have a plan.
The official said, ‘Hardik has done well under the captaincy. He is young and will keep getting better. According to the current situation, there is no better option than Rohit Sharma as an alternative. He should be supported for a long time. Let us tell you that Hardik first proved his captaincy in IPL when Gujarat Titans won the title.
