
In the Spanish La-Liga, it was giant club Real Madrid who fell behind early in Sunday night’s match, but eventually smiled victory. Carlo Ancelotti’s side won 2-1 against Real Sociedad. Federico Valverde and Joselu scored one each for Real. Ander Barenekoxa scored Sociedad’s only goal.
Barcelona went top of the table with a 5-0 demolition of Real Betis on Saturday. That’s why Carlo Ancelotti’s team had to start the match against Sociedad with some caution in the Santiago Bernabeu match. But Japanese midfielder Takefusa Kubo’s superb pass from Ander Barenekoxa put Sociedad ahead in the fifth minute.
English midfielder Jude Bellingham failed to get on the scoresheet. The English star has scored five goals in his first four matches for Madrid. Through this, he is on top of the list of highest goalscorers so far.
Valverde equalized for Madrid just seconds into the second half from Fran Garcia’s cut-back. The left-back also provided the second goal. Joselu gave Real a comfortable win in the 60th minute with Garcia’s cross. Immediately after this goal, Ancelotti replaced Joselu with Eduardo Camavinga.
After the match, Joselu said, ‘This is the Bernabeu. In front of the home fans, we stood in the match. We have confidence in ourselves. There are many qualified players in this team. Once again we came back to the match from behind.’
Madrid are two points ahead of current champions Barcelona at the top of the league table. The two Spanish arch-rivals are still unbeaten in La Liga. Barcelona only dropped points in their first match, drawing with Getafe.
As a result of this victory, Real Madrid has reached the top of the table with a maximum of 15 points in five matches. Barcelona is number two in the list with 13 points in the same match. At number three is Athletic Bilbao. And Girona occupying number four of the points table. Both teams have 10 points.
