Real beat Sevilla with Rodrigo’s double

At the beginning of the match, Real Madrid fell behind with a goal. But a brace from Rodrigo came from behind as Real Madrid beat Sevilla 2-1 in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday night. The win moved the Galacticos four points behind third-placed Atletico Madrid.

As a result of this victory, the second-placed Real Madrid collected 77 points in 37 matches. Sevier is at the eleventh position in the table with 59 points from the equal match. Meanwhile, Barcelona is at the top of the table with a maximum of 85 points in 36 matches. At number three is Atletico Madrid.

Winger Vinicius Junior was out without injury. In attack, Carlo Ancelotti’s team was also without Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio due to injuries. Only Rodrigo was fit as a regular forward.

Rafa Mir put the Europa League finalists ahead in the third minute of the match. Brazilian star Rodrigo equalized for Real. His curling shot from a free-kick in the 29th minute was beyond the reach of goalkeeper Yasin Buno. The first half ended with a 1-1 goal difference.

At the start of the second half, Mir had another chance to score. But his shot went narrowly over the crossbar. Brazilian forward Rodrigo gave Real the lead in the 69th minute after beating Sevilla defender Gonzalo Montiel with an assist from Toni Kroos. In the end, Real won by holding the lead.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said of Rodrigo, who scored twice, ‘Rodrigo has proven himself to be reliable as a centre-forward. Different characters have been noticed in him.’
