PUCMM and Agriculture agree to create projects to benefit the agricultural sector

Santiago.- The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Ministry of Agriculture signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement for the joint development of projects for the technical and institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The agreement was signed by the Reverend Father Secilio Espinal, Rector of the PUCMM, and the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz López, who promised to develop financing programs for projects in the area, the development of a digital platform to manage the information from the Ministry, the attendance of the selected participants to the training sessions scheduled by the PUCMM, as well as the contribution with the university in the creation of contents of the different training programs.

This section also intends to identify the projects that will be developed, providing the physical facilities, and giving access to the information necessary for their effective execution in coordination with the PUCMM.

Espinal expressed that it is of “great importance” to establish these relationships between the ministry and the university, since from the academy they make available the competences and capacities as a generator and transmitter of knowledge -through research and science- to achieve the development of productivity that improves the quality of life of Dominicans.

For his part, Minister Cruz thanked him for the opportunity offered by his alma mater to continue offering the transmission of knowledge to comply with what is proposed in the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, to guarantee safe food for the entire country.

The activity had the participation of the authorities of the University, such as the Academic Vice Chancellor, Julio Ferreira; Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Juan Faxas; the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Iluminada Severino and the Director of International Relations, José Miguel Hernández.

In the same way, the dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, Ana María Barranco; the director of the School of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications of the Santiago campus, Carlos Camacho; the director of the School of Natural and Exact Sciences on the Santo Domingo campus, María Luisa Rodríguez, and Professor José Ramón Álvarez.

On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Vice Minister of Finance, Fernando Jáquez; the Vice Minister of Agricultural Sector Planning, José Rafael Paulino; the Vice Minister of Extension, Darío Vargas; the legal consultant, Yohan Manuel López; the one in charge of Protocol, Jenny Quezada and the director of Agricultural Economics, Karina Soriano.
