French football star Kylian Mbappe will be out of the field for three weeks due to a thigh injury, Ligue One club giant PSG said. As a result, he will not be able to play in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League.
PSG won 3-1 against Montpellier in Ligue 1 on Wednesday. Mbappe was injured in the first half of this match. PSG coach Christophe Gaultier initially thought Mbappe had injured the back of his knee rather than a muscle injury, but medical tests revealed he had injured his left thigh.
“After examination we have confirmed that Mbappe is suffering from pain in the biceps femoral of the left thigh,” a club statement said.
Mbappe will miss the last 16 match against Marseille in the French Cup after being sidelined for three weeks. However, PSG fans are hoping that Mbappe will return to the field before the second leg of the Champions League group stage.
