Porn Mode: what is Google’s new privacy feature?

The browsing history has become an essential element of user privacy when browsing the Internet.

That is why browsers have developed mechanisms to facilitate both access to that information, as well as the possibility of erasing “the trace” on the websites where you were.

Under that premise, Google developed a function that many users baptized as the “Porn Mode” where the person is allowed delete your browsing history from the last 15 minutes.

This new feature is dedicated to those people who use shared devices and want to protect their search history, especially at times when they enter adult content pages.

How does “Porn Mode” work on Google?

The operation of this mechanism is very simple, you just have to go to your app Google > Click on your profile picture > Click on “My Activity” > Delete the last 15 minutes, and that’s it.

It is important to note that this function goes beyond Google Chrome because the information collected by Google is based on the moment in which you are in the browser with your account open. That is, even if you use another browser, but you are in Google, then that history will also be deleted.

The feature has been available on iOS for a few months now, and now for some Android users.

“We are currently rolling out this feature to the Google Android app and expect to make it available to all app users in the coming weeks,” said Google spokesman Ned Adriance. “We continue to explore ways to bring this useful feature to other surfaces.”
