ODI is Kohli’s preferred format

Virat Kohli, the biggest batting star in the world, has expressed his love for the ODI format before the Asia Cup. In an interview given to Star Sports, he said, this format always brings out the best in him.

He said, ‘I love playing ODI cricket. I think, for me, ODI cricket is probably the format that tests my game completely. Your strategy, composure, patience, situational playing style are all tested in this format. Tests you completely as a batsman’.

‘So I think ODI cricket always brings out the best in me because I like to take challenges and play according to the situation to help my team win. I have always tried to do that. As I said earlier this format tests my game regularly and that is why I enjoy ODI cricket the most’.

Kohli needs just 102 more runs to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of fastest to 13,000 runs in ODIs. He is in great form with the bat this year. Scored 427 runs at 53.38 in 10 matches, including two centuries.

India will begin their Asia Cup campaign with a match against arch-rivals Pakistan at Palekelle, Sri Lanka on September 2.
