New Zealand-Sri Lanka match may be washed away by rain

New Zealand and Sri Lanka will meet today in their ninth match in the current World Cup. Today’s match is very important for both teams. The Kiwis have no choice but to win today’s match to secure the semi-finals. On the other hand, the Lankans want to beat the Kiwis in today’s match to keep alive their hopes of playing in the Champions Trophy.

The match will start at 2:30 PM at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, in today’s match, the fear of both teams is rain. According to the India Meteorological Department, more than 7 cm of rain has already fallen. Due to which the knee-deep water has accumulated in the low-lying areas. Along with the rain, there may be rain with thunder today, they said.

If the match is eventually abandoned, the chances of Pakistan or Afghanistan will increase. In that case, Pakistan or Afghanistan will have a chance to top New Zealand and go to the semi-finals if they win their last match.

Afghanistan, Pakistan and New Zealand – these three teams now have 8 points. India, South Africa and Australia have already confirmed their place in the semi-finals. As a result, the fight for the fourth place is now between three teams.

But New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is not thinking about the weather at all. The Kiwi captain has eyes only on the fight on the field. He said these things in the pre-match press conference on Wednesday (November 8).

“There’s a lot we can’t control, the weather is like that,” Williamson said of the rain. You said there may be some, working in the subconscious mind. But at the end of the day our focus will be on cricket, we want to give all our attention and energy there.’
