New Pixel Watch 2: Google gets its act together to compete against the Apple Watch

The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro do not arrive alone. Google just announced the Pixel Watch 2, the second generation of its smart watch that arrives loaded with internal innovations to compete against the Apple Watch and the rest of the smartwatches for Android, and that, for the first time, arrives on the Spanish market. It also does so at a very attractive price.

The Google Pixel Watch 2, specifically, inherits the same design as its predecessor. We are, therefore, facing a device with a circular box that stands out for its front glass that is slightly curved at the edges and for including 100% recycled aluminum frames. The box, however, is now up to 10% lighter, says Google. And, of course, the straps from last year’s model are compatible with this new version.

The same design makes the Pixel Watch 2 have the same screen as the variant that Google announced last year. We therefore find a 1.2-inch AMOLED panel, which includes a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels. It also maintains the fAlways-On anointing, which allows you to view relevant content, such as the time, even when the device is turned off.

The Google Pixel Watch 2 arrives with three new sensors

The news? They are mainly in the sensors. Google has added three new ones: one to measure body temperaturel; other cEDA sensor, to measure electrodermal activity and detect stress; and other sensor named multipathwhich allows detecting cardiac activity at different times and situations.

These sensors are also complemented by new functions related to sports and health that Google has inherited from Fitbit smart devices. In fact, the Pixel Watch 2 is compatible with Fitbit services, and now offers better integration, the brand claims.

Regarding software, the Google Pixel Watch 2 arrives with WearOS 4, which allows you to use most Google services, as well as third-party apps compatible with the company’s operating system for watches. The new version also comes with the possibility of using apps such as Gmail or Calendar on the watch itself, as well as improvements in backup copies for easier migration between devices.

Google improves the Pixel Buds Pro

In parallel to the Google Pixel Watch 2, Google has improved the Pixel Buds Pro with new features that will reach all users through a software update. One of them is automatic conversation detection.

The headphones, specificallythey will be able to automatically switch to transparency mode when they detect that a person is speaking. A low latency mode for gaming has also been added, as well as improved bandwidth for clearer audio during calls.

Finally, the Pixel Buds Pro now include a hearing health alert system. When a user is listening to music at maximum volume for a long time, it will issue a warning recommending lowering the volume to avoid damage.

Google, by the way, has also updated the colors of the Pixel Buds. Now also available in blue and porcelainthe same tones as the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
