After months of rumors and leaks, and after an initial first lookGoogle has finally made its first folding smartphone official: the Google Pixel Fold. The company has announced during the I/O, its conference for developers, the main features, price and availability of this new mobile with a flexible screen that comes to compete with models such as the Oppo Find N2 or the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and that stands out for its its screen, camera, design and software.
One of the key features of the Pixel Fold, and the one that we have already known for a few weeks, is its design. Google’s first foldable, specifically, comes with a continuous aspect with respect to the company’s Pixel smartphonesbut with obvious changes due to its flexible panel.
We could say that the Pixel Fold It is a “book type” mobile, as it has an interior screen that folds horizontally and also has an exterior screen to be able to directly access some applications, answer messages or make calls without having to unfold the device. Also striking is its back, which is made of glass and includes a photographic module that expands practically from edge to edge.
Regarding the specifications of the screen, the Google Pixel Fold has a flexible interior panel with 7.6-inch OLED technology, a Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The external screen is much more contact; 5.7 inches. It also has OLED technology, as well as a Full HD + resolution and a 120 Hz screen refresh rate. All this, in addition, with a 4,821 mAh battery and a SoC Tensioner G2 inside. It is precisely the same processor included in the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro and the recently announced Pixel 7a.
The Google Pixel Fold also boasts cameras
Google, of course, has not neglected the photographic section in this Pixel Fold. The camera of this smartphone, in fact, promises to be incredible, since it has practically the same configuration as the Google Pixel 7 Pro.
We therefore find a triple main camera on the back. This stands out for a 48 megapixel primary sensora 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto sensor of the same resolution.
Inside the Google Pixel Fold we also find a camera dedicated to selfies. In this case, it is 8 megapixels. The camera, yes, is not incorporated directly into the panel, as is the case with other folding, but is located in the upper frame. The Pixel Fold, in fact, has more pronounced screen bezels than other similar phones.
The software, the key to the Google Pixel Fold
The hardware —with the exception of the camera—, in reality, is nothing special. The special thing about the Pixel Fold, in fact, is the software. Google has added different functions to take advantage of the flexible interior screen. One of them is a dock that allows access to different apps without having to access the home screen, a split screen mode to use several apps at the same time or a keyboard divided between the two edges of the panel.
The Pixel Fold, on the other hand, takes advantage of the outer screen to, for example, show translations to someone in front of it. Also to show the preview of the main camera.
Price and availability of the first Google folding

The Google Pixel Fold will be available to pre-order in some markets starting today at a price of $1,799. It will go on sale next month, as confirmed by the company.
