Netherlands broke the opening pair in 7 runs

The Netherlands, who gave birth to the first fairy tale in the World Cup by defeating South Africa in their third match in the current World Cup, won the toss in their fourth match today and lost their first wicket for just 7 runs.

Bikramjit Singh, Max O’Dowd, who opened for the Dutch today, could not take their opening pair far. This pair was broken by Bikramjit Singh’s departure for the team’s 7 runs.

Bikramjit Singh, who scored 4 runs off 13 balls, went back to Sajghar after falling victim to LBW off Kasun Rajithar. On his departure, the opening pair of the Dutch broke in 7 runs.

Sri Lanka is going to this year’s World Cup. Along with the continuous poor performance, the change of captain has pushed them on the backfoot. In the middle of the tournament, two more cricketers have been flown as reserves. All in all, the 1996 world champions are still looking for their first win in this tournament. On the other hand, the Netherlands, who defeated South Africa in the last match, want to do well in this match as well. The Dutch force wants to maintain the momentum they got against the Proteas against the Lankans. They want to take advantage of Sri Lanka’s bad times. Although the Lankans have won all the 5 matches between the two teams in ODIs so far.

Sri Lanka made two changes to the playing XI in today’s match. And the Dutch are entering the field with an unchanged eleven.

Netherlands XI: Vikramjit Singh, Max O’Dowd, Colin Ackerman, Bass de Lied, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards (captain), Sybrand Engelbrach, Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, Ariane Dutt, Paul van McKernan.

Sri Lanka XI: Pathum Nishanka, Kushal Perera, Kushal Mendis (captain), Sadira Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Chamika Karunaratne, Dushan Hemanth, Mahish Thikshana, Kasun Rajitha and Dilshan Madushanka.
