Naughty Dog would be working on a remastering of The Last of Us Part II. The curious thing about the case is that the existence of this project would have been revealed through LinkedIn by an employee of the studio.
As reported VGC, developer Mark Pajarillo included the information in the work experience section of his profile on the platform. “Responsible for overseeing the production of all outsourced art assets, weapons, and interactive environment props for two iconic titles, The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered“, it originally indicated.
This may not reveal much on its own. It doesn’t, in fact. However, it is evident that some alarm has sounded in the Naughty Dog offices because said description has subsequently been edited. It now reads: “Responsible for overseeing the production of all outsourced art assets, weapons and interactive environment props for two iconic titles, The Last of Us: Part One“.
Yeah, the mention of The Last of Us 2: Remasteredbut the statement was not completely corrected. Perhaps in the rush to do damage control, Pajarillo has not noticed that detail.
For now, the studio behind the franchise has not officially announced the remastering. However, the hypothetical existence of this initiative does not generate much surprise, considering that Naughty Dog already has experience optimizing its video games.
In fact, the first installment of The Last of Us It was remastered for the PlayStation 4 in 2014., just a year after its original release on the PS3. While a remake for the PS5 premiered in September 2022 and arrived on PC this year.
¿The Last of Us Part II Is it heading towards a remastering?
It is not the first time that clues have been known that point to a remastering of The Last of Us Part II. In July, the composer Gustavo Santaolalla hinted that Naughty Dog was working on a “new version” of the title that was released in 2020. In an interview with comedian Guille Aquino on I listen to offersfrom Blender, the Argentine musician referred to his cameo in the second part of the game.
Santaolalla, who appears carrying a ronroco, one of his favorite musical instruments and with which he composed a large part of the game’s soundtrack, mentioned that your participation would be more interactive. “In the new edition (the players) will be able to make me play certain songs. But nothing, I can’t tell you much more,” said the two-time Oscar winner.

This suggests that, if indeed a remastering of The Last of Us Part II is on the way, not only aiming for a visual improvement, but also retouching some issues related to gameplay. Even so, there are still no indications as to when this apparent proposal could be made official.
Let’s not forget that those who played the title on the PS5 already enjoyed an interesting optimization in the graphic section. In May 2021, Naughty Dog released a patch so that users of the next-generation console could play it at 60 frames per second, when on the PS4 it was limited to 30 FPS.
We will have to continue waiting to learn more about this possible remastering. However, considering the uptick in interest in games caused by the HBO and Max series, it would not be unusual for there to be news in the coming months.
