Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal reiterated that he will end his career next year. After two rounds of back surgery, he is now trying to get back on the court.
About this, Nadal said, ‘I have already said that 2024 is my last possible year. I still hold that. But I still can’t be 100% sure.’
The 37-year-old Nadal said in May that he was trying to get back on court strong after suffering a back injury during the Australian Open in January. So far, Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam titles. On Monday he said, ‘I want to play competitive matches again. My goal now is not just to come back, to win Rolla Garo or Australia. I don’t want to confuse anyone. I am aware of the difficult situation in which I have fallen. The biggest obstacle in this is my age, the other thing is physical problems. But I am optimistic about returning to the court again after all.
So far he has had to undergo surgery on his waist twice. Nadal will need at least five months to recover from the latest surgery in June.
