The Australian Open is over for Rafael Nadal who has lost to Makenzie McDonald 6-4, 6-4 and 7-5, in the second round after suffering a left leg muscle injury in the second set with 4-3 of the American tennis player. The current number two in the world held on the track without retiring but could not avoid defeat.
Nadal will not be able to defend the title won last year in Melbourne in which he came back from two sets in the final against Daniil Medvedev.
Nadal, who went to the locker room with 5-3, finally chose not to retire and with discomfort, only throwing blows with his arm, played the last 15 games of the game, before leaving Rod Laver and saying goodbye from the center of the track. The Balearic tennis player made helpless gestures towards his box but reached the last point after 2 hours and 26 minutes.
