Moncho Fernández: “Unicaja has recovered the virtues that characterized it”

The coach of Monbus Obradoiro, Moncho Fernández, is not surprised by the great moment that Unicaja is going through, without defeats in their last five games between the Endesa League and the Champions League, because they have “recovered” their virtues. “It was a matter of time before it recovered its level, in these last games Unicaja already looks like the team that played so well last season. It has recovered the virtues that characterized it, and right now it is a team on the rise,” he commented in a conference of press.

Compliments to Unicaja

The Obradoirista coach recalled that his next rival maintains the majority of the players and continues to be led by Ibon Navarro, with whom last year he won the Copa del Rey title and reached the semifinals of the Champions League and the League. “He has many top-level individuals but he plays as a team, that is reflected in the scoring, in the distribution of minutes, in the assists… It is a very powerful block, whoever plays maintains the level,” he stressed.

The Santiago coach assumes that his team is “under minimum” in the outside game due to the injuries of Jordan Howard and Rigoberto Mendoza and the departure of Eric Washingtonthat’s why “any” other problem would be “very serious” for the future of sports.

Many casualties to play in Carpena

“Right now we have three casualties on the perimeter and any inconvenience weakens us a lot,” said Moncho Fernández, who trusts that the sports management will be able to “reinforce” that position in the future. “We have only had the entire squad available in two official matches, and so it is very difficult because you have to make patches,” recalled the Galician coach, who confessed that it is “difficult” to remove players from their “usual” positions to adapt them to new positions
