Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who was a guest at the Weekend with Hakan Çelik on CNN Türk, evaluates the hot developments on the agenda.
“WORKS MUST FINISH”
Çavuşoğlu was asked about the ongoing contacts with the Syrian regime and why President Erdoğan and Assad did not meet. The Minister said, “There is no delay. A road map has been agreed upon. It has been decided to form a working group. What steps will be taken in the fight against terrorism in the coming period, how the political process will work, what steps will be taken, friends will discuss this. Maybe we will meet once again. We will come. The leaders can meet later. So we need to prepare for the leaders meeting. Syria has some demands, such as Turkey withdrawing. We do not have our eyes on Syria’s territory, but there is a serious threat coming to us from Syria. This needs to be worked out in a road map.” said.
HE SAID “There is no resentment in politics”
Weeks ago, President Erdogan asked journalists, “Will you meet with Bashar Assad?” answered the question and “There can be a meeting with Assad, there will be no resentment in politics. Ultimately, we will take steps under appropriate conditions,” he said.
