Meeting with Zelenski, President Erdoğan reiterated his offer to end the war

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the statement made by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, the developments in the Russia-Ukraine war were discussed during the meeting. During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed his condolences for the tragic helicopter crash that took place in Ukraine on Wednesday.

ERDOĞAN REPEATED THE PROPOSAL OF MEDIATION

President Erdoğan reiterated that they are ready to make a strong diplomatic contribution to the establishment of a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine, and to undertake the task of facilitating and mediating in this process.

On the other hand, since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has been going on for almost a year, President Erdoğan has been maintaining diplomatic contacts for peace. Lastly, meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past weeks, Erdoğan reminded that the negotiations on the Russia-Ukraine war yielded positive results, and they witnessed the grain corridor, prisoner exchange and safe zone initiatives around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. Erdogan also conveyed to Putin that they are ready to take on the role of facilitator and mediator.
