Giant club PSG won 4-2 against Nantes in French Ligue 1 on Saturday night. French star Kylian Mbappe scored a goal for the team in the match. And with this goal, Mbappe has set the record for the highest goal in the history of PSG club.
Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani holds the record for scoring 200 goals in a PSG jersey. But Mbappe equaled Cavani’s record with a brace against Marseille last week. And he also surpassed Cavani by scoring against Nant.
The hosts got a two-goal lead at the start of the home match. After Lionel Messi’s first goal, Jawen Hazem’s own goal gave PSG a 2-0 lead in the 17th minute. Then Nante came back to the fight with two goals in the 38th minute. Ignatius Ganago equalized for the visitors after Ludovic Blas scored a goal. But Mbappe’s assist Danilo Pereira put PSG ahead again in the 60th minute. Mbappe then scored his record goal in stoppage time.
After joining PSG from Monaco in 2017 at the age of just 18, Mbappe is reaching this new goal milestone in 247 matches. Cavani set the previous record with 298 appearances in 2020 after playing seven years. At the end of the match, the 24-year-old Mbappe was presented with the trophy for the club’s unique record.
Mbappe finished the match as captain yesterday. After the match, the French star said, ‘I play to make history. I have always said that I want to make history for France, I want to make history for my city. I have shown that. It is truly unique. But there is still much to be done. These records are really special to me. If someone tells me that I only want to break the record by scoring goals while reading the captain’s armband, I don’t believe it.’
