Between whistles and applause, Málaga CF beat Mirandés to continue with a thread of life for another week. Whatever happens in the rest of the games of the weekend, the blue and whites will reach the penultimate day with minimal options, thanks to their victory and Sporting’s draw, which remains at 6 points and with the individual average equalized between the two. In a strange environment, from the start of the match, Sergio Pellicer’s men defeated the Burgos team thanks to goals from Alberto Escassiin the first half, and Junior Lakeas soon as the second half began.
The atmosphere was very rarefied in La Rosaleda. Nothing to do with the last few games, obviously. Crossing of songs, reproaches to players and directive. And in that atmosphere the players had to be able to show professionalism and win the game, for honor and to, at least, extend the agony for another week.
The blue and whites’ first approach was carried out by N’Diaye, the most whistled by far of the headlines. The Senegalese’s shot went wide and ignited further into the background against him. Those of Pellicer were putting more intensity than his rival and, after fifteen minutes, it was 1-0. In a second play, Delmás put a tense cross that Escassi finished off at the back of the net, rising above his defender. The tension continued in the celebration. From the Animation Stand, “mercenaries” were yelled at the players, while the rest reproached them and answered with “Málaga, Málaga!”.
The blue and white team was still most involved in the game and came close to making the second five minutes later. Villalba had all the time in the world inside the box but it took him a while and his shot bounced off a defender. The ball was about to reach the feet of Chavarría to clinch.
The game was quiet even for the referee. He had to show a couple of yellow cards in the first act, to N’Diaye and Barbu, for different actions, but little else. Zero controversy so far. With the result 1-0, and with another whistle for the Blue and Whites, the teams went to their changing rooms.
Judgment Junior Lake
N’Diaye’s yellow forced Pellicer to replace him at halftime. His place was occupied by Luis Muñoz. And as soon as the second half began, Lago Junior made the second. Perfect sending by Pablo Chavarría so that the Ivorian man could prevail over his pair and beat Herrero for his stick. Now yes, the whole stadium was going to one, the second goal revived the stadium.
Minutes in which very little happened. Shy attempts now by Mirandés, who was looking to close the gap without too much effort. Raúl had 2-1 in his boots, but Yáñez avoided it with a good intervention. Double change in Malaga after halfway through the second act. Rubén Castro and Esteban Burgos entered for Lago Junior, cheered, and Alberto Escassi. And already entering the final stretch, Jozabed entered, whistled, by Chavarría, fired with applause, while the fans asked for the participation in the match of Alex Calvo.
Mirandés did a little more with the ball and territorial control in the final minutes, but the blue and white team did not suffer. Two minutes from the end, Pellicer responded to the fans’ request by bringing on Álex Calvo. The youth squad did not have time for much. Already at the discount Rubén Castro was about to round off the game on the counterattack, but his definition against Herrero crashed into the post. Without further ado, the points stayed at home and Málaga will arrive in Vitoria with mathematical options.
